Description

The First International Conference of the Journal Debating Europe will be dedicated to the study, analysis, debate on the political, economic, diplomatic, social and cultural transformations occurring within the European project.

Within this overall theme, papers which analyze the following topics, among others, will be accepted, both individual case studies and comparative ones:

  • European Identity(ies)
  • Europe of Citizens
  • Europe – A community of and for Law
  • Diplomacy and the European Construction
  • Political and Economic Europe
  • A Europe open to the World

Debater a Europa


Debater a Europa is an Electronic Journal with peer review. This is a journal (Debater a Europa) linked to the Europe Direct Information Centre of Aveiro, to Center for Interdisciplinary Studies of the Twentieth Century, University of Coimbra - CEIS20, in partnership with the Office of the European Parliament in Portugal and with the Representation of European Commission in Portugal.

Informing about European Union in order to get closer to citizens is to do it in partnership, strengthening coherence and synergies between information and communication activities undertaken by the European institutions, Member States, information networks and other civil society actors, in particular the university. The journal's main purpose is to analyze, question, discuss and debate the main issues of our reality today in Europe. It also aims to maintain a dialogue among all parties, essential to the maturation of European consciousness.

The journal also falls within the scope of the University of Coimbra "open access policy" aimed at "putting the dynamics of the transfer of knowledge at the service of economic, social and cultural development, strengthening the connection between the University and the surrounding environment at national and international level" as well as in promoting the political right to transparency / information from the European Union.

The Calendar of this event has the following dates:

  • 30 January 2014: deadline for expressions of interest in collaborating
  • 10 February 2014: communication of acceptance of papers

The working languages are Portuguese, French and English. There will be no simultaneous translation.

Registration fee: 10 € (students) or 20 € (academics and other researchers).
