Russell Foster is Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellow in European Studies at the Department of European Studies, University of Amsterdam. Before moving to the Netherlands in 2015 he was a graduate student at the School of Geography, Politics and Sociology, Newcastle University; and ESRC Visiting Scholar at the College of Liberal Arts, Virginia Tech. He read History at Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge. His research interests include the geopolitics of the EU, European identity and integration, and the European Union as empire. His most recent book, Tabulae Imperii Europaei: Mapping European Empire, was published in 2015 in Routledge's "Critical European Studies" series.
